Snow Day

Next week is the end of March, and hopefully the end of a long and cold winter. But even if it was cold and endless and most of us is already bored of the Russian winter, we could find many beautiful and enjoable things in this season. To remind them once more and to say goodbye to the winer we organised a Snow Day in the school. The IB students organised many interesting programs related to winter, snow or cold. We made ice-cream, origamy snow-mans, and the art students' idea was the snow sculpture making.
We came to scool on usual time, and after a short registration we went out to the yard and started to make big hills of snow, from which we later cut out the sculptures. After that we had a little break so we went to the IT room to research some professional snow sculptures and shapes which might suit better to our snow conditions. We printed them out and at 12 o'clock we started to make the sculptures. Unforunetly, I forgot to change my shoes, and while i was changing them, my team drop the knife into the midle of their vulcano sculpture and started to make a huge hole under the sculpture. This later became a tunnel which we could not connect to the vulcano idea. In the last minute we changed the conception and made a castle. We coloured our sculpture inte red, orange and blue, to make it fresher and more intreresting.
The other groops made a beutiful fish in style of Nemo, a huge mashroom, and a futuristic chair.
I think everybody enjoyed to make these sculptures and they will decorate the school yard if not until the end of time but at least until Spring. During the Snow Day, I have

  • undertaken new challenges
  • planned and initiated activities
  • worked collaboratively with others and
  • developed new skills

Weather Club & Badminton Club

It is almost spring. The temperature is rising one by one degree, the snow is melting, the getting lighter and longer, soon we have to change our clothes and start to wear skirts, sunglasses, but not boots and coats. From the beginning of the year I took part in Weather Club, and with other members we discussed it many times when the spring will begin. The estimation on the wall of the weather club about Moscow’s average temperature showed that it has to come very soon, but it also showed that not anything happened like the estimation. In this term I read the measurements twice with my partner Ilona. Both days were snowy, cold days, with lots of clouds.

In this term I also decided to join some sport club to energize myself. I choose the Badminton Club, as I don’t like running in this weather, football is taken too serious and I don’t like basketball. If it would be a volleyball club I would join with great pleasure, because my favourite team sport is volleyball. Unfortunately we don’t have a volleyball club in our school, because the gym is busy every afternoon. Actually, the Badminton Club surprised me. I thought it would be easy chilled out game, but it was hard and eventful. Unfortunately I had to miss the last two clubs because my back hurt, but now It aches mush less, so I hope I can come to the next time.

With taking part in these clubs, I
  • Undertook new challenges
  • Worked collaboratively with others
  • Engaged with issues of global importance

Valentine's Day Disco

On the 17th of February our school decided to celebrate love and organize a Valentine’s day disco. Many decided to take part in the disco and made red harts, bought roses, snacks, decorated the room and organized the music. My first idea was to organize a Valentine’s day post, but unfortunately, while I was ill, somebody else decided to organize the message-sending box with roses and chocolates. As I still wanted to take part in the Valentine’s day celebration, took my camera and documented the whole day. It was not an easy task as the delivering service had to work quickly, and I did not have time to take a picture of everybody. We were running from one end of the school to the other, looking for classes, which actually left for a little walk in the forest and overthrown the whole timing of the delivering.
I also took pictures int he disco, so i had to stay until seven to catch every significant moment like karaoke, dancing, and finally the cleaning of the room. By the end of the day i felt really tired because of the endless running, but i really enjoyed the evening of red harts and pink balloons.

With takink part in the Valentine's day Disco I
  • Worked collaboratively with others
  • Showed perseverance and commitement in my activities
  • Developed new skils

Guitar

I have a balck Fender CD-60 acustic guitar, like this
I always loved music. After eight years of playing the piano, when i got a guitar from my parents for Christmas, I decided to learn how to play the guitar, but this time I tried to learn myself without a teacher. I bought a special teaching book which explains everything about guitars and about playing, focused on those who are learning themselves, like me. I started with some simple Hungarian child songs. It was quite different from the piano, and took a few days to get used to the guitar. After the simple songs I learned some chords (E minor and A minor) and some easy songs based on these chords such us the Hungarian “Megfogtam egy szúnyogot”.  The next step was to learn the chords E major and A major. There chords are quite similar, for example E minor and major has just one string difference. Finally I learned the chord D major, and with these chords I could play the chorus of the popular song “The Lion Sleeps Tonight”. This week I practiced two new chords, similar to A and E major, but with a dominant sounding. I plan to learn some more chords, learn new songs ó and of course develope my playing skills as well.
